Sri Rudram Classes

Sri Rudram is one of the most revered and powerful Vedic mantra, used to invoke the grace of Lord Shiva since time immemorial. It is found in the Taittiriya Samhita of Krishna Yajurveda. Some of the most popular and powerful mantras such as the Panchakshari and the Mahamrityunjaya mantras are also taken from Sri Rudram.

“dhyāyet īpsita siddhaye dhrutipadaṁ vipro’bhiṣiñcecchivaṁ” says the dhyana sloka of Sri Rudram. It means that one can obtain any dharmic wish fulfilled by reciting Sri Rudram or by performing rudrabhishekam. Following this, sanatana dharma anuyayees have been using Sri Rudram in various prakriyas such as Abhishekam, Japam, Homam, etc, to fulfill their worldly and spiritual desires. The Chamaka prashna, the second part of Sri Rudram lists down a total of 347 wishes that encompasses anything and everything a devotee can ever ask for in his life.

Since it is such an integral part of Santana Hindu worship, Pujya Guruvugaru Kalvakolanu Sreerama Chandra Murthy Garu has initiated training students in sashastriya, swarayukta, gurumukha patham of Sri Rudram through KC Das Trust, with the aim of enabling astikas to learn and bring it into their anusthana. Currently, around 40 students are being trained by him personally in Hyderabad. Another 20 students are being trained by Sri Rukmininatha Shastry Garu, a well read Vedic scholar in Bengaluru. These students will also get a chance to be a part of the Rudra Homam, that is taking place on November 1st and 2nd as a part of KCDT’s Karthika Mahotsavam, and offer their prayers to Lord Shiva via Homam while chanting Sri Rudram themselves.
