కార్తీక పురాణము ఎనిమిదవ (రోజు) అధ్యాయము:
నమశ్శివాభ్యాం నవయౌవనాభ్యాం నమో నమః శంకర పార్వతీభ్యాం.
పవిత్రమైన కార్తీక మాసంలో స్కాంద పురాణాంతర్గత కార్తీక పురాణము, ఈ రోజు ఎనిమిదవ రోజు పారాయణ విశేషం, శ్రవణము చేద్దాము.
ఈ పురాణము అంతా వశిష్ఠుల వారు జనకమహారాజుకు చెబుతున్నది.ఓ రాజా!కార్తీక ద్వాదశి నాడు, హరికి ఎవరైతే దీపమాలార్పణ చేస్తారో, వారు వైకుంఠానికి చేరుతారు. కార్తీక మాసం శుక్ల పక్షం అంతా సాయంకాలం విష్ణువును అర్చిస్తే, స్వర్గనాయకులు అవుతారు. అంటే విష్ణు సహస్ర నామ పారాయణ చేసుకుంటే విశేష పుణ్యఫలము. ఈ నెల రోజులూ క్రమం తప్పకుండా విష్ణు ఆలయానికి వెళ్ళి దైవదర్శనం చేసుకునే వారు సాలోక్య మోక్షమును పొందుతారు. సాలోక్యం అంటే సామీప్య-సాలోక్య-సారూప్య-సాయుజ్య అని నాలుగు స్థాయిలు మనకి. భగవంతుడికి దగ్గరగా ఉండతం, భగవంత్సంబంధమైన విషయాల పట్లే జీవితాన్ని గడపడం, ఆయన లాగ స్నేహితుడిలా ఉండాలని ప్రయత్నం చేయడం, చివరికి ఆయనలో ఐక్యం అయిపోవడం. సాలోక్యం అంటే విష్ణు లోకంలో ఉన్న ఫలితం లభిస్తుంది అని దాని పరమార్థం.
కార్తీక శుద్ధ ద్వాదశి నాడు చేసే ప్రతి సత్కర్మ అక్షయ పుణ్యాన్ని ఇస్తుంది, అలాగే దుష్కర్మ కూడా అక్షయ పాపాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. కాబట్టి దుష్కర్మలు చేయకుండా సత్కర్మలు చేయడం ఉత్తమం. ఈ నాడు, శివాలయంలో కానీ విష్ణు ఆలయంలో కానీ లక్ష దీపాలు వెలిగించి, సమర్పించే వారు విశేషంగా విమానారూఢులై దేవతల చేత పొగడబడుతూ విష్ణు లోకానికి చేర్చబడతారు. దీపం పెట్టలేని వారు కనీసం ద్వాదశి, చతిర్దశి, పౌర్ణమి రోజులలో పెడితే విశేషమైన పుణ్యఫలం పొందుతారు.
సరస్వతి నదీ తీరంలో, పూజా పునస్కారాలు లేని ఒక విష్ణు ఆలయం ఉండేది. అందులో కార్తీక మాస స్నానం కోసం వచ్చిన ఒక యతీశ్వరులు, ఆ ఏకాంత ప్రదేశంలో తాను ఉంటూ అక్కడ ధ్యానం చేసుకుంటూ కాలం గడప సాగాడు. చీకటి వేళల్లో దీపారాధన చేస్తూ, ధ్యానం చేస్తూ ఉండే వాడు. అలాగ ఒక కార్తీక శుద్ధ ద్వాదశి నాడు రాత్రి, దీపం పెట్టి ధానం లో నిమఘ్నమై ఉన్నాడు, కొద్ది సేపటికి దీపం కొండెక్కింది. అక్కడ ఆహారం దొరక్క తిరుగుతూ, ఆ సమయంలో ఒక ఎలుక ఆహారాన్వేషణలో తిరుగుతూ, ఆరిపోయిన ఒక దీపవత్తిని ఆహారమని భావించి నోట పట్టుకుంది. తడిగా ఉన్న ఆ వత్తిని పరిశీలించేందుకు మరో వెలుగుతున్న దీపం వద్దకు తీసుకెళ్లింది. ఆ సమయంలో ఆ వత్తి మంటను తాకి మళ్లీ వెలిగింది.
ఆ యతీంద్రుడు వెలిగించిన ఆ దీపం ఎలుక వలన పునఃప్రజ్వలితమైందీ, దాని పూర్వజన్మ పుణ్యఫలంగా ఆ మూషికం అదే రాత్రి గుడిలో దేహాన్ని విడిచి, దివ్య పురుషరూపాన్ని పొందింది. దివ్య పురుషుడుగా మారిన ఆ వ్యక్తిని చూసి, ధ్యాన భంగం అయినా ఆ మహర్షి, ‘ఎవరు నువ్వు? ఎందుకు ఇక్కడికి వచ్చావు?’ అని అడిగాడు. అప్పుడు ఆ దివ్య పురుషుడు, ‘“ఓ యతీంద్రా! నేనొక ఎలుకను. గడ్డిపరకలు తిని జీవించేవాడిని. ఈ దివ్య రూపం ఏ పుణ్యఫలంగా దొరికిందో తెలియదు. పూర్వజన్మలో నేను ఎవరో, ఏ పాపం వలన ఎలుకనయ్యానో, ఏ పుణ్యముతో మోక్షం పొందానో నీరే చెప్పగలరు. దయచేసి జ్ఞానం ప్రసాదించండి.” యతి తన జ్ఞాన నేత్రంతో అన్నీ దర్శించి, దానికి కారణాలను వివరించాడు ఇలా…
నీవు జైమినీ గోత్ర సంజాతుడవు, బాహ్లిక దేశంలో ఉండేటువంటి వాడివి. నిరంతరం సంసార పోషణ పరాయణుడవై ఉన్నావే తప్ప, ఏనాడు కూడా దేవతార్చనలు, భగవత్ సంబంధమైన కార్యక్రమాలు చేయకుండా భోగలాలసతో జీవితాన్ని గడిపావు. రాత్రింబవళ్లు తినడమె పనిగా పెట్టుకున్నావు. అంతేకాదు, లోభివై నీ కూతురిని కూడా కొంత ద్రవ్యానికి ఎవరికో విక్రయింపజేయాలని చూశావు. ఈవిధంగా కూడబెట్టినదంతా ఎక్కడో దాచిపెట్టి అర్థాంతరంగా మరణించావు. ఆ పాప ఫలితం వల్లనే నరకాలు అనుభవించి, ఇప్పుడు ఎలుకవై పుట్టి, ఈ దేవాలయంలో తిరుగుతున్నావు. ఇలా అనగానే, ఆ పురుషుడు తాను చేసిన పాపలు అన్నిటికీ పశ్చాత్తాపపడి, ఇకపై తప్పులు చేయనని నిర్ణయించుకుని, కార్తీక శుద్ధ ద్వాదశి నాడు జరిగింది కనుక, త్రయోదశి, చతుర్దశి, పౌర్ణమి నాడూ, దీపారాధన చేస్తూ జీవితాన్ని సాగించాడు.
ఈ మహత్యం అటువంటిది రాజా! కార్తీక మాసంలో విశేషంగా నెల రోజులూ, నియమంగా తాంబూల దానం చేసిన వారు కూడా, మరుజన్మలో రాజులుగా పుడతారు. ఈ నెలలో పాడ్యమి నుండీ, రోజుకొక దీపం చొప్పున, విష్ణు సన్నిధిలో వెలిగిస్తే, వారు వైకుంఠ గాములు అవుతారు. సంతానం కోరెటువంటి వారు, కార్తీక పౌర్ణమి నాడు, సంకల్పం చేసుకుని, సూర్యుడిని ఉద్దేశించి స్నాన దనాలు చేసి, నమస్కరించినట్టు ఐతే సంతానం పొందుతారు. విష్ణు సాన్నిధ్యంలో కొబ్బరికాయను, దక్షిణ తాంబూలాలతో దానం ఇచ్చిన వాళ్ళకు ఏ విధమైనటువంటి రోగాలు రావు. ఈ కార్తీక మాసంలో విశేషంగా పౌర్ణమి నాడూ, రాతితో కానీ, కొయ్యతో కానీ స్తంభం చేయించి, దానిని ఒక విష్ణు ఆలయం ముందు పాతి, దాని మీద నేతితో దీపం పెట్టి, ఆ రోజు దీపం వెలిగిస్తే వారు హరిప్రియులవుతారు. ఈ స్తంభ దీపాన్ని చూచినంత మాత్రాననే సమస్త పాపలు నశించిపోతాయి మహారాజ. ఈ స్తంభ దీపం యొక్క విశేషత అటువంటిది.
పూర్వము మతంగ ముని ఆశ్రమంలో ఇలాగే ఋషులందరూ మాట్లాడుకుంటూ, ఒక స్తంభ దీపం యేర్పాటు చేద్దామని ఒక చెక్క కొయ్యను తీసుకొచ్చి, దానికి కొమ్మలు కనుపులూ ఏమీ లేకుండా స్తూపాకారంలో ఉన్న ఒక దానిని తీసుకొచ్చి, దానిపై దీపాన్ని వెలిగించగానే, అది కూడా మోక్షాన్ని పొంది, అందులో నుండి దివ్య పురుషుడు ఉద్భవించినాడు. ఉద్భవించి, తాను గత జన్మలో వాగ్దనాలు చేశాను కానీ, దానాలు చేసి ఎరుగను, అందుకే ఇలా వేల సంవత్సరాలుగా పడి ఉన్నాను. మీరు పెట్టిన దీపం వల్ల నాకు ఈ ఫలితం దొరికింది, ధన్యవాదాలు, కృతఙుడనయ్యాను.
కానీ, నాకు కొన్ని సందేహాలు ఉన్నాయి. అయ్యా, అసలు దేహి ఎవరు? జీవి ఎవరు? జీవుడు ఎలా ముక్తుడవుతాడు? ఎలా బద్ధుడవుతాడు? దేహులకి, ఇంద్రియాలు కలుగుతున్నాయి, కర్మేంద్రియాలు, ఙానేంద్రియాలు అని. ఇవన్నీ ఎలా కలుగుతున్నయి? నా సందేహాలు నివృత్తి చేయాలని ప్రార్థించాడు. ఆయనకు అంగీశుడు అనే మాహముని ఙానబోధ చేయసాగాడు. ఈ విషయాలన్నీ రేపటి అధ్యాయంలో తెలుసుకుందాం.
రేపు, కార్తీక శుద్ధ నవమి రోజు, నూనెతో చేసిన వస్తువులు నిశిద్ధములు, ఉసిరి తినకూడదు, అలాగే మీకు ఇష్టమైన వస్తువులు దానం చేయాలి. పితృ తర్పణాలు చేస్తే విశేషమైన్ ఫలం. అష్టవసువులను కానీ పితృ దేవతలను కానీ పూజించాలి, తద్వారా ఆత్మ రక్షణ, సంతాన రక్షణ రెండూ సమకూరుతాయి, ఈ పూజల వల్ల.

Namashshivabhyam Navayauvanabhyam Namo Namah Shankara Parvatibhyam
In the holy month of Kartika, let’s listen to the epic Kartika Purana, today the eighth day of kartika puranam.
All these Puranas were told by the Vasishthas to Janakamaharaja. O King! On Kartika Dwadashi, whoever offers a lamp to Hari, they will reach Vaikuntha. If you worship Vishnu in the evening during Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartika, you will become Swarganayakas. That means reciting Vishnu Sahasra Nama is a special merit. Those who regularly visit Vishnu temple every day of this month will get Salokya Moksha. Salokya means proximity-salokya-sarupya-sayujya four levels for us. To be close to God, to live a life of Godly things, to try to be like Him as a friend, and finally to become one with Him. Salokya means that the result in the world of Vishnu is achieved.
Every good deed done on Kartika Suddha Dwadashi gives Akshaya Punya, similarly bad karma also gives Akshaya Papa. So doing good deeds is better than doing bad deeds. On this day, those who light a lakh of lamps and offer offerings in the Shiva temple or in the Vishnu temple, are specially praised by the gods and are admitted to the world of Vishnu. Those who are unable to light a lamp, at least if they light it on Dwadashi, Chathirdashi and Full Moon days, they will get special merit.
On the banks of river Saraswati, there was a Vishnu temple without puja punaskaras. In it, a Yatiswaru who came for Kartika month bath, stayed in that secluded place and spent time meditating there. He used to pray and meditate in the dark hours. So one Kartika was engrossed in grain with a lamp on the night of Suddha Dwadashi, and after a while the lamp lit up. While wandering around in search of food, a rat wandered around in search of food and grabbed a dead lamp thinking it was food. She took the wet wick to another lighted lamp to examine it. At that moment the wick touched the flame and lit up again.
The lamp lit by that Yatindra was re-lit by the mouse, and as a result of its previous birth, the mouse left the body in the temple that night and assumed the divine male form. Seeing that man who had become a divine man, the sage said, ‘Who are you? Why did you come here?’ he asked. Then the divine man said, ‘”O Yatindra! I am a mouse. I live by eating grass. I do not know by what virtue this divine form was obtained. You can tell me who I was in my previous birth, by what sin I became a mouse, by what virtue I got salvation. You belong to the Jaimini gotra and belong to the Bahlika country. Apart from constantly being dependent on all things, you never did devotions and activities related to God and lived a life of pleasure. You made it a task to eat day and night. Moreover, you were greedy and wanted to sell your daughter to someone for some money. All that you have accumulated like this, you have hidden somewhere and died in the middle of nowhere. As a result of that sin, you have experienced the hells and now you are born as a mouse and roam around in this temple. Saying this, the man repented of all his sins and decided not to commit any more mistakes, and since Kartika happened on Shuddha Dwadashi, Trayodashi, Chaturdashi, Poornami Nadu, he led his life by worshiping the lamp.
This greatness is such a king! Even those who donate tambuls as a rule, especially in the month of Kartika, will be born as kings in the next birth. If a lamp is lit in the presence of Lord Vishnu from Padyami in this month, they will become Vaikuntha Gamu. Those who wish for a child, on Kartika Purnami, make a resolution, bathe and bow to the sun, and get a child. Those who donate coconut and Dakshina tambulas in the presence of Vishnu do not get any kind of diseases. In this month of Kartika, especially on the full moon, if a pillar is made of stone or wood, buried in front of a Vishnu temple, a lamp with neti is placed on it, and the lamp is lit on that day, they will become Haripriya. Just by looking at this pillar lamp, all sins will be destroyed, Maharaja. Such is the specialty of this pole lamp.
Formerly in Matanga Muni Ashram all the sages were talking like this, they brought a wooden pole to set up a pole lamp, brought a pillar shaped thing without branches and anything, and when they lit the lamp on it, it also got salvation and the Divine Purusha emerged from it. Having arisen, I had made promises in my previous birth, but I did not know how to give alms, so I have been lying like this for thousands of years. I got this result because of your lamp, thank you, I am grateful.
But, I have some doubts. Aya, who is the real Dehi? Who is the creature? How does a living being become liberated? How do you sleep? For the body, the senses are created, the karmandriyas and the genitals. How does all this happen? He prayed to clear my doubts. He began to preach to him a man named Angeeshu. Let’s learn all these things in tomorrow’s chapter.
Tomorrow, the day of Kartika Shuddha Navami, things made of oil should be nisiddhas, amla should not be eaten, and your favorite things should be donated. If you do Pitru tarpana, it will be a great fruit. The Ashtavasus but the father gods should be worshipped, so that both the protection of the soul and the protection of the offspring can be achieved, due to these pujas.
